Parenteral Nutrition

Parenteral nutrition solutions may contain a combination of nutritional components, including amino acids, lipids, glucose, vitamins, and trace elements. The components are produced and combined together under aseptic conditions in dedicated facilities in order to prevent the risk of contamination. This is especially important given that parenteral nutrition is provided intravenously and particularly since the patients who require parenteral nutrition are often very unwell and may be immunocompromised.
