Posted on: January 31, 2025

Earlier this month, Oxford East MP, Rt Hon Anneliese Dodds visiting Baxter Healthcare's aseptic compounding facility in her constituency to learn more about the vital products manufactured by BSNA members who provide aseptically manufactured infusions to the NHS.

As part of the visit, Anneliese was given a tour of the facility which was an opportunity to demonstrate the process of how medicines are manufactured in an aseptic controlled environment before being transported to hospitals for patient use.

BSNA member companies work as vital partners to the NHS to ensure patients have access to the products they need.  The sector delivers approximately 4 million units of chemotherapy, parenteral nutrition and ready to use injectable medicines e.g., antibiotics, and pain relief know as CIVAS[1] to the NHS annually.

BSNA members have continued to invest in manufacturing capacity and production volume of chemotherapy and monoclonal antibodies (a form of anti-cancer immunotherapy) has increased by 19% and parenteral (intravenous) nutrition by 13% in the past year.  The sector is proud of this record and our role in supporting patients in partnership with the NHS.
