BSNA Response to Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) Market Study Final Report
Responding to the CMA's publication of its Market Study report and recommendations for changes to the regulation of the infant formula market, BSNA Director General, Declan O'Brien said,
"For parents who can’t or choose not to breastfeed, infant formula is essential for the health of their babies. Our priority is to ensure that all families can access the support and information they need to give their babies a healthy start in life – whether they breastfeed or use infant formula.
We will review the CMA’s recommendations and are committed to working constructively with the CMA and Government to ensure families are supported as they care for their babies."
Further information:
Breastfeeding is the best way to feed an infant and is important for both mother and baby’s health and wellbeing. However, not everyone can or chooses to breastfeed and formula is the only safe alternative for babies.
