ACBS consultation on ONS policy

The Advisory Committee on Borderline Substances (ACBS) has today launched an open consultation on proposed changes to ACBS policy on oral nutritional supplements (ONS) listed in part XV of the Drug Tariff. The proposed changes cover:

• the standardising of pack sizes to 125ml and 200ml
• the listing of no more than one volume of each product
• the recommending of 1kcal/ml ONS for certain clinical conditions only
• criteria for oral nutritional supplements prescribed for use once per day
• the use of ‘complete’ and ‘fibre’ in brand names and when describing products

Manufacturers, clinicians and other interested parties are invited to respond to the consultation by completing this survey, which closes on 27 June 2021.
