ESPEN welcomes attendees to its second 'virtual' Congress 2021 this week ( 9-14 September)
The second fully ‘virtual’ Congress of the European Society for Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism (ESPEN) takes place this week, gathering thousands of healthcare professionals from 91 countries, to discuss topics such as nutritional support in intensive care patients; traumatic brain injury and nutrition care; and a joint World Health Organisation- ESPEN session ‘Obesity and cancer: Need for joint actions and the role of nutrition’.
There are also “Meet the Guidelines Experts” sessions, COVID-19 updates, 2 LLL Live Courses open to all during the congress days and virtual networking hubs and a virtual industry exhibition.
The annual ESPEN Congress is a valuable opportunity for healthcare professionals to access a highly relevant scientific programme; the latest data from industry, relevant educational sessions and to network and learn from colleagues across different areas and countries.

As BSNA, our members provide what may be life-saving support to patients in intensive care via parenteral nutrition and also via medical foods. The knowledge gathered in the UK in supporting COVID-19 patients is advancing our ability to support such patients and ESPEN represents a valuable opportunity to communicate this knowledge across healthcare professionals and also to learn from the experience of colleagues across Europe.
