Celebrating 40 Years of NNNG: Advancing Nutrition in Practice

On 16–17 June 2026, the National Nurses Nutrition Group (NNNG) Conference took place in Bristol, bringing together healthcare professionals from across the UK to mark 40 years of NNNG.

With the theme ‘Advancing Nutrition: Education and Practice,’ the event highlighted the growing importance of nutrition as a core part of patient care.

Natalie Welsh, current chair of NNNG announced she would be stepping down from the NNNG Committee after a decade of volunteering for the organisation. She gave an inspiring opening session to say that nutrition nurses are not alone when facing challenges, and highlighted the importance of their role, because if a patient does not get the right nutrition, at the right time, delivered in the right way, they will simply die.

Education and Practical Care

A key focus of the conference was the role of education in improving practice, with sessions exploring nutritional assessment, training opportunities, and sharing best practice across the UK.

The programme also delivered practical insights, including guidance on enteral feeding pathways, patient safety, and ensuring patient-centered care.

Collaboration and Impact

Discussions emphasised the importance of multidisciplinary collaboration and continuous improvement, showing how evidence-based approaches can strengthen patient outcomes.

BSNA is proud to support the work of NNNG and its mission to advance nutritional care, now and into the future.
