BSNA is excited to be exhibiting at the Annual BAPEN Conference on 8 and 9 November. Coincidentally, this also coincides with the American elections, so it’s going to be an exciting day for everyone. To be able to be a part of this event, alongside a huge number of our members, will be a great experience that we are all very much looking forward to!
This year’s conference is entitled ‘Malnutrition Matters’. Malnutrition is a subject of great importance to us. In August we produced an article about ‘Malnutrition in the Elderly’ in NHD magazine, which concludes that full implementation of high-quality pathways of nutritional care, and the recognised role that dietitians can play in evaluating a patient’s need for oral nutritional supplements (ONS), can result in both short- and long-term savings for health and social care services: not to mention the health and wellbeing of the patient.
The BAPEN symposia will cover some really interesting topics, including: the cost of nutritional support at home; blended food and feeding tubes; quality and safety in prescribing nutrition support; and access for parenteral nutrition.
During 2016, BSNA has produced a set of information documents, the latest one being ’The Value of Oral Nutritional Supplements’. These can be downloaded from bsna.co.uk. These will also be available from our stand at BAPEN, together with some new documents about parenteral nutrition.
So if you’re going to be at BAPEN, make sure you come along and say ‘hi’ because we’d love to see you.
