In November 2025, healthcare professionals from across the UK and beyond converged on Newport, Wales for the 2025 BAPEN Annual Conference. The conference took place on 11 and 12 November 2025 at the ICC Wales, a modern venue just outside Newport.
The 2025 conference programme was designed to offer something for everyone, from clinicians to researchers and students. The multidisciplinary event had engaging sessions and presentations. In the Opening Plenary, BAPEN President Nick Thompson announced that Jane Fletcher is the President Elect, who will be the first female BAPEN president.
Topics throughout the 2 day conference included:
- Nutrition Support in an ageing population
- Sustainability
- Twenty years on from ‘MUST’ – how are we managing malnutrition?
- Health economics of oral nutrition support – how to convince the sceptics
- Managing Peripheral Parenteral Nutrition in Adults and Children
The Pennington Lecture was delivered by Pete Turner on Astounding Facts and Amazing Messages from 20 Years of the BAPEN Annual Conference covering a fascinating history of key changes in evidence and practice including protein, oedema, refeeding syndrome, starvation ketosis, and enhanced recovery after surgery.
In addition to the talks at the well attended Conference with over 800 delegates - the highest number of delegates BAPEN has had - there was also the return of the Nutrition Village, a buzzing exhibition hall and Posters. The Posters presented at BAPEN really showcased the ongoing research and quality improvement work happening with nutrition and the industry partners showcased products, services, and innovations in enteral and parenteral nutrition.
BSNA was delighted to exhibit and show off the latest leaflets for healthcare professionals including '6 Steps for Tube Care' leaflet.
More than just an annual meeting, the 2025 BAPEN Annual Conference reaffirmed the importance of collaboration across disciplines in tackling the complex challenges of malnutrition and nutritional support across healthcare settings. We are excited to see what BAPEN brings to Bournemouth in 2026!
